Well after a very interesting trip to NC, an eventful New Year's and a full week back at work, here I am.
The first day back in NC, a snowstorm hit and a power line broke. We were without power for more than 24 hours afterward. It put a delay on hanging up Christmas lights, but didn't prevent it by any means.
The finished product:
The first night the electricity was back on I went to Amie's parents' house for a late birthday party for her. It was such a good time! It ended up just being Amie, her boyfriend Zach, her brother Travis, Travis's new girlfriend (who happens to be someone I know fairly well), Amie's parents, her friend Heather and Heather's boyfriend (who were only there for part of it) and me. It was a lot of fun! My favorite picture of the night is of Amie, Heather and me wearing bump its in our hair.
The week of Christmas was full of baking (the product of which I mailed to Jay as a Christmas present). The best part of the vacation was undoubtedly seeing my niece Haylee, though seeing the entire family was amazing.
The day after Christmas I went to Mulligan's (a bar in my hometown) and had the opportunity to catch up with a lot of people from high school I hadn't seen in ages. It was really nice to be able to go out back home and sort of let go of all the stressors in my life.
I flew back to Boston late on the 30th. For New Year's Eve I went to a house party in Davis Square with Justina and had a blast. Then, on the 1st, I went to another Love in Stockholm show. I'm really beginning to feel a little obsessed with their music, but those guys are great!
I went back to work on Monday and had a super busy week. I topped it off by having dinner and drinks with Emily last night. It was great because I hadn't seen her in person since a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving and we had a lot to catch up about.
So now I'm amping up for next week. On Tuesday I'm driving to Maine for work so there's a full day where I'll be doing basically nothing but driving. I'm looking forward to it though because I miss driving a bit. It'll get the desire out of me for a little while hopefully, plus it's a day out of the office and in some fresh air.
I've planned out next weekend for my birthday celebration (my birthday is on the 19th). On the 15th a group of us are going to dinner at Sunset then out dancing and drinking in Allston. On the 16th I'll be having a few people over for drinks at my house before we head out to Phoenix Landing in Central Square for 90s night. I'm still not sure what I'll do on my birthday proper, but hopefully I'll be out doing something. After that, the birthday celebration continues. On the 21st I'm going to trivia with my coworkers, which will no doubt be a good time and then on the 23rd I'm going to another Love in Stockholm show. I can't WAIT for the week of my birthday to begin!
So yes, in brief that's where my life is now. Of course there's more than that going on, but it's just too much for this kind of update. If anything current evolves into something bigger, I'll give back-story as part of that entry. Seems a bit more organized that way at least.
Happy New Year!
