Oh, and a quick update

Some issues that have recently been resolved, but on which I forgot to give an update:

I found my missing jewelry box and jewelry (whew!).

I went to the Verizon store and, after a bit of an altercation with one of the employees, my battery was replaced. Although the operations manager from the previous week was in the office, he tried to ignore me and my issues until I pointed him out as the person who had assured me the battery wouldn't be a problem. It was quite the adventure.

I still haven't resolved my mp3 player issue. Online support says the case has been "resolved" and the last I heard from them, they were going to send me an RMA. The case was closed at the beginning of April...where's my RMA? I'm going to email the same technician who initially handled my case to try to find out what is going on.

I have 5 research papers due within the next two weeks and 3 final exams thereafter. It's going to be an interesting month.

Why are humans becoming incapable of communicating effectively?

Because it's so difficult to understand what everyone is trying to say!

What am I talking about?

It took me a while to get through this article because I had a hard time figuring out what some of the abbreviations were supposed to mean and because I couldn't bear to look at it for more than a few minutes. I hope to GOD that it never becomes the norm to stop capitalizing the beginning of sentences.

What can I possibly do to make sure this never happens, at least not during my lifetime? Sadly, many employers, as noted in the article, are accepting this way of communicating and it IS becoming the norm. I swear if I ever run a business, or my own practice, it will be very clear to my employees or co-workers that they should never send me an email in this kind of shorthand, or any for that matter.

If people want my respect, they have to earn it, and that includes at least making some attempt to appear intelligent and cognizant of the way adults should behave and communicate.

I think I need a drink...

Reflections

I've been sitting here for hours trying to start my Lit and Arts B final paper, but I just can't seem to. I'm having a strangely reflective night, but I'm not accomplishing much in the way of that either. It's like there's a wall between my conscious and subconscious that isn't normally there. On an average day, I can pretty easily access what it is that I'm feeling deep down inside, but there's something about today, about me, that just doesn't feel right. I'm uncomfortable. I'm restless. I don't like it.

I'm sure that sitting here and listening to music isn't helping. If I turned the music off, there would probably be a lot less reflection and I could get my paper done. The problem with that is that everything would just get buried for a few more days, maybe a few weeks, which is even worse. But what is it that I'm burying? What is it that I need to figure out?

Hopefully it becomes more clear as the night wears on...

Goodnight!

Yoga, Yahoo, and Yelling

I haven't posted in a while, mainly because I found an awesome group through yahoo and I've been spending a lot of my time getting to know the other group members; it's nice to feel like I've found my niche.

I had a presentation today in developmental psychopathology on borderline personality disorder, which I think went fairly well. At the beginning of class the professor made a comment about how all of the presentations today were on personality disorders and jokingly posited "That's interesting, for psychodynamic reasons." Although it drew chuckles, it was obvious that a few of them were uncomfortable, but at the same time, his comment wasn't mean spirited so it actually worked to put the presenters (at least me) at ease. Thanks!

I finally switched over to my new phone and the operations manager at Verizon assured me that the battery issue was just an issue with the old phone and that I should no longer have problems with the battery now that I've switched phones. It died on me today after 15 minutes of conversation, which indicates to me that the other problems I was having with the phone served to effectively kill my battery entirely. I'll be paying Verizon another visit this weekend and I really hope that the same operations manager is there; it will be more fun that way.

I went to yoga tonight, and it absolutely killed me! Some of the girls in the class had asked the instructor to do a harder class this week, so she did. Little did I know upon going tonight that it was not a good night for a novice. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and I'll be going back next Monday. I'm really excited! The instructor assured me that next week she'll be going back to an easier session, so that's a relief.  Now I just need to get a yoga mat this weekend.

Otherwise I think it has been a fairly uneventful last couple of weeks. I'm back in the routine after spring break, but I have a lot of stuff to deal with, including finding a lost box of jewelry. I know I brought it back with me from NC, and it was on my carryon so I know it was not misplaced, so it must be in my room somewhere, the question is just where...

Guess that's a task for later in the week as well.

Goodnight y'all!
